Dark Taste-imony: Eggos & Ramen

After marriage and the baby carriage came Eggos and Ramen. As a child, I was fascinated with Eggo waffles and I’m sad to say that they became a staple in my diet after the BS (Baby Struggle).

Add ramen for lunch and/or dinner and you have a setup for a true Taste-imony. Anyone who has survived on something similar as eggos and ramen and now is eating French toast and steak can relate. It’s hard to go back to these types of foods. I was shouting “Hallelujah” when I passed them by in the grocery store. Don’t get it twisted though, every few years I indulge in eggos and ramen but not without much gratitude for where I have been and where I am now.

Why Eggos and Ramen? Because we didn’t have the money or know how to eat quick, healthy meals. Shoot, after formula, our child was sometimes fed cheap frozen meals or hot dogs and applesauce.

We quickly learned how to save, use coupons and shop for healthier options. Eating healthy has not only benefited our health, it has helped our pockets. We actually have saved more by eating healthy (less doctor visits, less trips to the pharmacy, less trips to purchase bigger clothes 👚👖👗👔).
